Don't call it a comeback!
Earlier this month, Music Times reported that Pharrell would be curating the NBA 2K15 soundtrack, an excitement in itself but the "Happy" man was recently hit with an offer he can't refuse.
According to Billboard, former NBA star turned rapper Shaquille O'Neal put in a request to be featured on the soundtrack.
O'Neal, who released a string of major-label albums during the 1990s, dropped a freestyle for Pharrell to help win him over.
"Yo Pharrell / this is Shaq / put me on the two-K-one-five track," he raps.
Things get a little shaky but O'Neal recovers towards the end spitting, "Me and you both went platinum."
Check it out below.
As previously reported, Pharrell said that he was "honored" to take over the NBA 2K soundtrack selection process from Jay Z and LeBron James, who curated the soundtracks to the franchise's previous two installments.
The game is set to be released on October 7th in North America, but the tracklist will not be released until later this summer.
However, Pharrell did mention that songs from System of a Down and Strafe would be included.
A representative for game publisher 2K confirmed that "2K15" would boast the largest soundtrack to date for the franchise.
The producer-rapper-singer says he enlisted help with his selections from his female staff members.
"I had some people from my staff -- they were all girls and women -- and we just talked about it," he said. "I was like, 'I have to do this, [but] I don't know if I'm gonna be able to pull this off, because Jay did it and LeBron.' I'm like, man, how do I follow up those guys? They know so much more about the sport than I do."
With that being said, do you think Pharrell should include Shaq?
