A man died while at the Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival in Manchester. He was found unresponsive in one of the event's camping sites.
Officials confirmed that the festivalgoer was found dead in his car on June 8, Friday. Festival organizers who found the man reached out to the medical team at the Bonnaroo 2018 to ask for medical assistance for an unnamed 35-year-old male.
Cause Of Death Undetermined
As of yet, the man's cause of death has not been determined, but festival organizers said that the his car was running and the heat was on.
"The temperature was 90 with a heat index of 99. We can't stress it enough that concertgoers [go] to drink lots of water. Staying hydrated with save your life," said Lucky Knott, a spokesperson for the Coffee County Sherriff's Department.
Another spokesperson also said that an investigation is ongoing. However, they do not suspect any foul play.
"The safety of our patrons is our highest priority, and our sympathies go out to his family and friends," said the organizers.
Bonnaroo Music And Arts Festival Death Toll
One publication claimed that the man's demise is the 13th death at the Bonnaroo Festival in its 17-year history. The last two recorded deaths of festivalgoers took place in 2015 and 2016. A 47-year-old man passed away after collapsing in the event's main area. Authorities, late on, confirmed that his death stemmed from a pre-existing cardiac issue.
Two years ago, Casey J. Young, 22, also passed away after being struck by multiple vehicles outside the festival grounds on Interstate 24. His autopsy report revealed that multiple blunt-force trauma caused his demise, but the manner of his death was accidental.
Bonnaroo 2018 Lineup
This year's music festival kicked off on June 7 and will wrap up on June 11. The artists booked for the festival include Eminem, The Killers, Muse, Khalid, Paramore, Kaskade, Dua Lipa, Sheryl Crow, Manchester Orchestra, Daniel Caesar, Virtual Self, Mavis Staples, Alex Lahey, and Chase Atlantic.
Comedians that have also confirmed their attendance include Adam Devine, Reggie Watts, Taylor Tomlinson, Donwill, Jon Gabrus, Joel Kim Booster, Drennon Davis, Sasheer Zamata, Martin Urbano, Aparna Nancherla, and Michelle Bateau.
Festivalgoers also have the opportunity to experience a wide range of activities at the Bonnaroo 2018. There are different plazas where shows are staged. Plaza 9, for instance, features the creative mind of Matt Schulz, a veteran performer and fan of Bonnaroo.
