British indie rockers The Horrors have suddenly pulled out of its 2014 North American tour dates, releasing a statement to fans on July 25.
"Dear friends, family, supporters, deadly sworn enemies and others, Unfortunately due to circumstances beyond our control we have had to reshuffle our US and European tours at the end of this year. We can only apologise to anyone who already has tickets to the dates affected - we hate cancelling shows but this situation was unavoidable. We'll be back on the road next year and make sure we return to all the places we missed on this run."
Getting a grasp on why the band would cancel nearly all of its dates on two continents is tricky business. Fans can take solace knowing there's nothing wrong with any of the members, as NME reports that the group is still believed to be playing its previously scheduled September shows in the UK, just none of the dates listed for mainland Europe. As unlikely as it seems, that could suggest visa issues. The band had announced during March a 25-date North American tour beginning October 13 in San Diego and stretching to Austin during early November.
Fans can also find relief knowing that The Horrors aren't on the verge of a split. The group promised that it would re-plan visits to locations that it missed during the current tour when it schedules its 2015 run. Until then we can only guess the reasons behind the cancellation.
The Horrors released its fourth album, Luminous during May.
