A museum that contains Kurt Cobain rarities got caught in the fire. The exhibit features some of the late singer's artworks and other personal items.
The display of Cobain's items was presented at the Aberdeen Museum of History in the singer's hometown in Washington. On Saturday, June 9, a blaze broke out from unknown causes.
Museum Fire Footage
Krist Novoselic, the bassist of Nirvana, shared a footage of the museum while it was being embraced by smoke. On his Twitter account, the musician said that what happened to the museum and Cobain's items were terrible.
Ryland Spencer tried to console Cobain fans by sharing some photos of the items that were displayed inside the museum. He revealed that he visited the establishment in September.
Kurt Cobain Exhibition To Open In Ireland
Following the recent fire, reports noted that an exhibition dedicated to Cobain will open next month in Ireland. The exhibit will feature some of the late musician's items that were curated by his family. Fittingly titled "Growing Up Kurt Cobain," some of the rarities that will be displayed at the Ireland exhibit have never been seen by the public before.
Cobain's mother, Wendy O'Connor, and his daughter, Frances Bean Cobain, are expected to attend the opening of the exhibit in Dublin. Cobain passed away in 1994 at the age of 27 due to an apparent suicide.
"I have always been the most intimately informed of why my father was by my grandmother and aunts. I am so ecstatic that their view of who Kurt was gets to be celebrated with Nirvana fans the world over," said his daughter.
The Ireland exhibit will also showcase Cobain's drawings of cartoon characters, as well as his handwritten lyrics. Cobain's sister, Kim, said that the goal of the exhibition is to inspire other people to never lose their childlike wonder.
