After covering Beyoncé, Zayn Malik has released his sultry rendition of one of Elvis Presley's most iconic songs, "Can't Help Falling In Love."
Zayn Malik Covers Elvis Presley
The new version of the classic track dropped on Sunday, July 8, and features a photo of the King of Rock and Roll on its cover art. In his rendition, the former member of the popular boy group, One Direction, slows down the 1961 track.
"Can't Help Falling In Love" was included in Presley's Blue Hawaii. The track had previously been covered by a slew of other artists including Michael Bublé, Meghan Trainor, UB40, Haley Reinhart, and Beck.
It is unclear whether the updated Presley classic will make it to the young singer-songwriter's second solo album. Malik has been teasing his still-untitled follow-up to 2016's Mind of Mine for months now.
He has released three singles, namely "Let Me," "Entertainer," and "Don't Matter" earlier this year. All three tracks are expected to be included in his anticipated next album currently dubbed Z2.
However, this month, he started releasing covers. Just last week, he dropped his version of Beyoncé's "Me, Myself, And I."
The 25-year-old did not clarify whether both tracks will also be featured in the upcoming album.
Zayn Receives Backlash For Elvis Presley Cover
Unfortunately, not many liked Malik's updated, slowed-down, R&B version of "Can't Help Falling In Love." Several users on Twitter criticized the cover, saying that the song is very different from the original.
His fans, however, remained supportive. They tweeted praises to the "Pillowtalk" singer's updated version of "Can't Help Falling In Love."
Zayn Malik Talks 'Z2'
In a previous interview, Malik said that the upcoming album has two moods: rhythmic pop and downtempo. He has reunited with frequent collaborator Malay to work on the still-untitled LP. Timbaland and Rob Cavallo also contributed to the album.
"What impresses me about Zayn is the vision he has for his music," Timbaland said. "How he looks at it, takes his time with it — just really thinks it out."
As of this writing, no release date has been announced.
