After releasing the viral sensation "This Is America," Donald Glover a.k.a. Childish Gambino has dropped two new tracks in time for the summer season.
On Wednesday, June 11, the actor-rapper debuted "Summertime Magic" and "Feels Like Summer." Both songs are expected to be included in his still-untitled fourth studio album.
Childish Gambino's Summer Anthems
The 34-year-old announced the two new tracks through Twitter. He called them the "Summer Pack" and both are now available for downloads or streaming in every major platform.
The first song, "Summertime Magic," is a catchy summer anthem that can make the listener stand up and dance to the steel drum beat and breezy vocals. In a press release, the track was described as the first official single from the rapper's upcoming "debut album" through his new label RCA Records.
Meanwhile, "Feels Like Summer" is more mellow and undeniably sultry; perfect for steamy summer nights.
Childish Gambino's Fourth And Final Album
Not much is known about Glover's upcoming album, but it will be his first and last album with Wolf + Rothstein/RCA Records after parting ways with independent label Glassnote Records. The new partnership was announced in January.
"Donald is undoubtedly one of the most talented, multi-faceted, young entertainers of this era," said Peter Edge, CEO of RCA. "We are excited to join forces with him and Wolf + Rothstein to usher in the next phase of Childish Gambino's musical career."
The major record label also announced that the still-untitled new album will be released later this year. No specific date has been divulged to the press as of this writing.
The forthcoming LP might also be the last from the Grammy-winning singer-songwriter. Earlier this year, Glover confirmed that he will be retiring Childish Gambino after his fourth album.
"I like endings. I think they're important to progress," he said to the press after winning a Grammy for Best Traditional R&B Performance for Redbone. "I think endings are good, because they force things to get better."
Gambino is set to go on tour with Rae Sremmurd and Vince Staple across North America in September. The Atlanta star is also set to bring his Pharos live experience, which was first held in Joshua Tree in California, later this year to New Zealand. He is expected to perform new music at both concerts.
His most recent album was Awaken, My Love! released back in 2016.
