Ariana Grande Drops Music Video Of 'God is a Woman'
The 26-year-old first teased the arrival of the music video on Instagram. She told fans that the short flick will arrive at noon.
As promised, the visually gorgeous music video that presents the young singer-songwriter as a goddess dropped on Thursday. It was directed by Dave Meyers who is also responsible for the music videos of Kendrick Lamar and SZA's "All The Stars," Camila Cabello's "Havana," and more.
In the music video of "God is a Woman," Grande is presented sitting on top of Earth and manipulating the weather, dancing inside the flame of a candle, and posing in Michelangelo's The Creation of Adam. The visuals pair perfectly with the song, which blends spirituality with sexuality.
Billboard notes that the video stops briefly in the middle of the song for a little woman-empowerment speech. At around the 2:30 mark, Ari mouths the verse recited by Samuel L. Jackson in Pulp Fiction. However, in this version, Madonna recites the speech.
"I will strike down upon thee, with great vengeance and furious anger, those who attempt to poison and destroy my sisters, and you will know my name is the lord, when I lay my vengeance upon you," the Queen of Pop was heard saying.
A couple of hours after the music video was released, the self-declared feminist posted a message, dedicating the new track to all the hardworking women out there.
to my fellow goddesses who work their asses off every day to "break the glass ceiling", this is for you. i respect u and am endlessly inspired by u. pls continue to fuck it up, to be yourself unapologetically & always know how celebrated u are. hope this can be ya anthem pic.twitter.com/Kh380CPV1B — Ariana Grande (@ArianaGrande) July 13, 2018

As well it should be! Women, make sure when you use it, it is your decision, your choice and at your pleasure! You don't owe it to anyone, you should never be convinced to use it.. it is yours and it IS a privilege for anyone to be welcomed to it! #Powerful https://t.co/OTTPbQVbVq — Joan Grande (@joangrande) July 11, 2018
