Michigan's Greta Van Fleet has released a new single titled "When The Curtain Falls," a song out of their upcoming still-untitled debut album.
Greta Van Fleet Drops New Single
The track was released on Tuesday, July 17, and is now available for streaming on all music platform. The band also released a special audio video on YouTube that features trippy visuals of vocalist Josh Kiszka, guitarist Jake Kiszka, bassist Sam Kiszka, and drummer Danny Wagner.
"When The Curtain Falls" is a great introduction to the rising rock band particularly because it sounds familiar. Greta Van Fleet has tapped into their musical influences, legendary rock acts of the 70s, such as Led Zeppelin and Janis Joplin, in the foot-stomping new single.
"Camera lights and action/ And words you know so well/ You're in and out of fashion/ In Hollywood of hell," Josh sings about an aging movie star. "When the curtain falls/ Walk the hollow halls babe/ Once a valley doll/ Now you're not at all."
While Greta Van Fleet has not yet released a full-length album, the rock band already has a loyal following. They have previously come out with two EPs titled Black Smoke Rings and From The Fires and has entered the Billboard Mainstream Rock Songs chart with "Highway Tune."
The four-member band also is currently in the middle of a North American summer tour that ends on Oct. 11 at The Sylvee in Madison, Wisconsin. The European leg of the tour begins on Oct. 26 at the Elysee Montmartre in Paris, France.
The New Heroes Of Rock & Roll
In a previous interview with the Rolling Stone, Greta Van Fleet discussed how they are making rock and roll popular to the younger music fans once again.
"Rock & roll to us is liberation. A reminder that we as human beings have a voice," said Josh.
His brother Jake admitted that he "can't stomach" the kind of music played in the mainstream radio, but deeply believes that there is still good music out there.
"There's a lot of blind hate out there, but rock & roll is the best way to get to know each other," added Sam.
No release date for the upcoming album has been announced as of this writing, but the band has been recording their studio debut in Nashville and Detroit in the past couple of months. Here are photos from the recording sessions in Nashville as captured by the Rolling Stone.
