Netflix: Upcoming April 2020 Movies

Netflix released the line-up of new upcoming movies and other films to be shown in April 2020 in the U.S. These give the viewers more reason to stay put in their homes during the coronavirus quarantine.

Enjoy the films with friends from other locations using Party Mode and binge-watch together.

April 1

MINORITY REPORT

In a futuristic setting, zero crime rate is achieved as criminals are caught before committing one. Tom Cruise plays John Anderton, a cop who finds himself framed and stuck in a tight situation. Directed by Steven Spielberg, this film was initially released in June 2002.

MOLLY'S GAME

Molly Bloom is a 26-year old Olympic-class skier who heads the secret world's most exclusive high-stakes poker game. This film is based on a true story. It shows Bloom being caught by the FBI after running for more than 10 years. Molly is portrayed by Jessica Chastain. The movie, which premiered in December 2017, earned an Academy nomination for Best Adapted Screenplay category.

THE SOCIAL NETWORK

Do you want to know how Facebook started? The Social Network showcases the friendship of founders, Mark Zuckerberg (Jesse Eisenberg) and Eduardo Saverin (Andrew Garfield). It tells the story of how they built the multi-billion social media network. The movie scored three Academy Awards in the year 2011.


THE DEATH OF STALIN

A drama-comedy movie released in March 2018, this film presents how the struggle of power ensues among the cronies of Joseph Stalin when he suddenly died in 1953.

LETHAL WEAPON 1- 4

A cop comedy series that began in the cinemas in 1987. An unlikely pair of Martin Riggs (Mel Gibson) and Roger Murtaugh (Danny Glover) was forged when Riggs was reassigned after his wife's death. Together, they fight both domestic and foreign evil forces. The franchise dropped its last installment in 1998.

THE GIRL WITH ALL THE GIFTS

A 'zombie' movie with a heart. This film is based on a bestseller science fiction novel. A gifted girl spared from mutated fungal disease gets away from a special school. Together with a scientist and a teacher, she gives hope for humans to survive. Glenn Close stars in this film with Senia Nenua as the young girl. The thriller was released in 2017.


TAXI DRIVER

"You talking to me?" became a sensational line from this 1976 classic thriller. Taxi Driver is a masterpiece helmed by the acclaimed Martin Scorsese. The young Robert de Niro, who is a Vietnam war veteran, plays as a psychotic taxi driver in New York City. He is compelled to rescue a young woman (Jodie Forster) from the dark underworld of prostitution.


THE PERKS OF BEING A WALLFLOWER

The film debuted in September 2012, starring Logan Lerman and Emma Watson. It tackles the joys and pains of growing up in high school together with amazing friends.

ROAD TO PERDITION

The internal conflict of a mobster is the subject of this film. Michael Sullivan (Tom Hanks) is a father. He wants to save his son, who witnessed a murder executed by his mob boss John Rooney (Paul Newman). Released in 2002, it garnered 6 nominations from the Academy.

SHERLOCK HOLMES

The first installment from the film series Sherlock Holmes came in 2009. This film is a movie adaptation of the famous detective book series. Robert Downey Jr. heads the action-adventure film for which he earned the Best Performance by an Actor in a Motion Picture - Comedy or Musical in Golden Globe.


MORTAL KOMBAT

Mortal Kombat is an action movie that broke the curse of failed adaptations of video games. The 1995 hit reached $122 million gross receipts worldwide.

MUD

An acclaimed coming-of-age tale, Mud (Matthew McConaughey) tells the story of a buy compassionately helped by two young boys to escape from bounty hunters. The must-watch film premiered in the 2012 Cannes Film Festival.

CAN'T HARDLY WAIT

A 1998 summer film, Can't Hardly Wait follows the story of fresh high school graduates celebrating at a party. The comedy stars Jennifer Love-Hewitt.

DEEP IMPACT

A projected comet is threatening to hit the Earth to destroy humanity. The sci-fi movie was initially shown in 1998.

JUST FRIENDS

Chris Brander (Ryan Reynolds) is a hometown boy dumped by his best friend, whom he loves. He leaves town in disgrace. After a decade, he returns as a successful record producer and tries to win her back. The rom-com was released in 2005.

SOUL PLANE

Soul Plane is an adult comedy flick with Kevin Hart as an airline owner. Shown in 2004, it featured Snoop "Doggy" Dog as a pilot.

CADILLAC RECORDS

A biography film, set in the 1950s to the '60s, about Chess Records company and its recording artists. Beyonce Knowles portrays the legendary Etta James.

April 4

ANGEL HAS FALLEN

Angel Has Fallen is the third installment of the Fallen franchise top-billed by Gerald Butler. Newly released in 2019, this film continues with the story of Secret Service Agent Mike Banning, who protects the U.S. President after a failed assassination attempt.

THE KILLING OF A SACRED DEER

The peaceful household of surgeon Dr. Steven Murphy (Colin Farrell) is shattered when a fatherless teenager imposes himself in the family. The psychological thriller debuted in 2017.

The Florida Project is a 2017 warmhearted life drama movie featuring 6-year old Moonee and her buddies.
