Sir Elton John, born Reginald Kenneth Dwight, celebrated his 73rd birthday yesterday, March 25. Image taken from John's appearance at the 2019 Cannes Film Festival.

On his official Twitter page, a 25-second snippet on his birthday shows "The Rocket Man" smiling as his children cheerfully sang "Happy Birthday dear Daddy". After blowing the candles, the pop legend gave a "ta-da!" to which the children replied with giggles.

"Grateful for the best birthday ever with my family", the video caption reads. As of this writing, the Twitter post has garnered 112K views, 1,359 retweets, and a little over 12K likes. Fans responded with greetings, pictures, and even their renditions of happy birthday to "The Pinball Wizard."

Meanwhile, he also uploaded the same heartwarming video in his Instagram profile. Moreover, he also posted his kids' birthday cards for him in his IG stories, together with greetings from friends, including Victoria Beckham, Chris Page, and partner David Furnish.

In a 2016 interview with Today, John recalls having boys Zachary and Elijah, "the greatest decision I've made - well - we've made, in the last six years... they're the things that come first and foremost." Elton John happily raises the two children with his husband, filmmaker David Furnish.

Furnish is the singer's longtime partner, starting a relationship in 1993 before saying yes in 2005. John and Furnish got into a civil partnership on December 21, 2005. The day was momentous as it was the very first day that civil partnerships were performed and recognized in England. In March 2014, nine years after, the couple converted their partnership into a marriage in Windsor, Berkshire.

Their children Zachary Jackson Levon, now 9, was born in 2020 through a surrogate, and Elijah Joseph Daniel, 7, born via the same surrogate in 2013.

While the "Lion King" composer is known for his catchy tunes and even more appealing outfits in performances, the now 73-year-old music icon lately enjoys simpler birthday parties, surrounded by his loving husband and children. In 2015, John also shared on Instagram a picture of the two boys holding a cake that reads "Happy Birthday Daddy" on the singer's 68th.

Elton John is best known for hits including "Rocket Man", "Tiny Dancer", and "Your Song". He also wrote and performed "Candle in the Wind" in 1973, first in tribute to actress Marilyn Monroe, then rewritten in 1997, in memory of Princess Diana. It then became the best-selling single in both the UK and US singles charts. He also wrote the songs for the 1994 Disney animated classic "Lion King."

Just last year, a biopic chronicling the British musician's life was released. Titled "Rocketman," after one of his hits, the movie starred Taron Egerton as Elton John. It follows his life from his early England days through his persevering musical partnership with Bernie Taupin, who collaborated with the singer by providing the lyrics to most of his songs. The film was first released at the 2019 Cannes Film Festival, ahead of its worldwide theatrical release, receiving universal acclaim for Egerton's performance as well as Elton John's music permeating the film.
