Jessie J Held a Virtual Dazzling Birthday Party

Jessie J greeted her birthday in a most creative, unusual way. The English pop singer and songwriter turned 32 on March 27 in quarantine-rocking party style at her Los Angeles home.

Two days before, the pop star sent a virtual invite via Instagram to a special event which she called "Let's Get Live Staying Inside." She mentioned that she organized the opportunity for people to do their part in donating money for charity work. "It's the best gift I could ever receive on my birthday," she wrote.

Another post was shared the following day wooing her fans to celebrate with her as she would sing songs in a catsuit. Jessie J added in her post that the purpose of the virtual concert is to raise funds and spirits during the current predicament brought by the Covid-19 crisis.

Donning a stunning sleeveless midnight blue sequined jumpsuit with matching gloves, the show began to stream at 3 p.m. ET. However, the DIY show was not spared of glitches. There was a technical difficulty involving her speakers which halted the live performance for a moment. It was broadcasted via Instagram live which was viewed by 14,000 fans. She also was having problems with her gloves and wig.

With neon-green lights as her background, Jessie J opened her mini-concert with the song "Masterpiece" ten minutes later. The gig was a one-woman production with her acting also as the manager, host, and technical team. Her assistant helped out as the light director.

Wearing a black bobbed wig holding a blue inflatable microphone, she performed in full spirits as if there was a live audience with her. The interactive performance showed her the fans to just be free, to dance and let go wherever they are in the world. There were several moments that she directed the microphone to the screen, prompting viewers to sing along with her. The repertoire showcased several of her hit songs.

The virtual birthday concert was her way to lift everyone's spirit while people are holed up in their homes. Jessie J expressed her compassion saying "I just want you guys to know that I'm thinking of you."

Advocacy for Covid-19

Jessie J went on asking her fans to give support by donating to UNICEF, the World Health Organization (WHO), and Covid-19 Solidarity Response Fund. The funds will be used for testings, vaccines for development, and health materials that are much needed to battle out the coronavirus pandemic. She particularly mentioned assistance that must be extended to the vulnerable, to children, and their families.

In between sets, the singer sat down and had a face-to-face interaction with her fans. She continued to answer questions posted during the live IG and acknowledged those who greeted her. Due to the lockdown, she admitted it had been a while since she sang, which caused her throat to dry out.

Jessie J concluded her set with the pop hit "Price Tag." She later posted her gratitude to the fans for joining her IG live party and for those who donated.
