It's a dream come true for rapper-songwriter DaBaby to meet his childhood crush Raven-Symoné in an Instagram live video, April 1.
Despite the social distancing protocols requiring distance between people, DaBaby was not one to let the opportunity pass. At the beginning of his Instagram Live, the rapper wore a hood and a face mask, eating fries and talking to some of his 11.2 million followers. The "Suge" rapper then called Raven-Symoné and hoped that the "That's So Raven" star would pick up.
As Raven indeed answered laughing, DaBaby immediately played around and called his crush "ex-girlfriend" and complemented Raven-Symoné, calling her "amazing." As a fan, DaBaby shared that when Raven's show "stopped coming on Disney", it felt like a break up for him. The "Backflip" songstress also reciprocated DaBaby's flirting, apologizing for "leaving" and calling him "baby."
When she teased the younger rapper about his exes, DaBaby quipped, "Girls hate me when it's over." Raven, on the other hand, shared that she tries to be friends with all her exes, male or female. Raven later dropped the bomb on the junior rapper that she's a lesbian, shocking DaBaby, joking that she broke his heart again. However, the Charlotte-native rapper still kept on hitting on his crush.
According to their conversation, Raven-Symoné is older than DaBaby, to which the "Baby Sitter" rapper said, "age ain't nothing but a number" and kept hitting on how Raven looks young. Raven is currently 34, while DaBaby is 28.
The two celebrities then had a short chat for about four minutes discussing everyday things such as their ways of eating an In-N-Out burger or their methods for staying safe amid the COVID-19 outbreak.
When DaBaby first asked Raven where she's at, she was reluctant to say it live, due to some 38 thousand people tuned in to the IG Live. After a few minutes of driving, he dropped off his ice cream in exchange for Raven's pepper sauce.
"You're not supposed to be this close to me," Raven shouted as DaBaby got close, singing "reunited and it feels so good". Raven jokingly told the audience, more than 40 thousand at this point, "Watch me get the corona cause of this one right here."
The fan then asked his childhood crush to make the iconic facial expression Raven did on "That's So Raven" whenever she had visions, to which Raven-Symoné obliged.
DaBaby, born Jonathan Lyndale Kirk, made his breakthrough with his debut studio album "Baby on Baby", which peaked at the 7th spot. His second studio work, "Kirk", debuted on the top spot. His Billboard Hot 100 charters include "Suge" and "Intro." The 28-year-old North Carolina rapper has also collaborated with other artists such as Camila Cabello and Post Malone.
On the other hand, Raven-Symoné Christina Pearman has made appearances on TV since she was three years old. Her most famous role, the titular character in "That's So Raven", is a psychic teen who uses her fashion skills to create disguises as she navigates the life of a teenager. The now 34-year-old hyphenate has also released four studio albums where she sang and rapped.
