Although technology has already spared us the trouble of buying and collecting physical copies such as cassettes and disks, one can't argue that there is a certain sense of satisfaction and nostalgia for manually loading your discs or playing music from your vinyl.
Even more, there's something about the phrase "Limited Edition" that makes collectors want to get their hands on these records. Below is some limited edition vinyl to step up your next music session.
The eleventh studio album by musician Trey Anastasio had AllMusic senior editor Stephen Thomas Erlewine saying, "What Anastasio achieves with Paper Wheels is tricky -- he's made a jam band record with defined hooks and songs that neither dilutes his identity or compromises it -- but he makes it seem easy."
Anastasio's limited edition box set includes two pieces of 180-gram splatter vinyl with six unique disk sleeves, all in a die-cut gatefold package. Only 4,000 of "Paper Wheels" have ever been made.
"In Through The Out Door" is the eighth studio album of English rock icon Led Zeppelin in 1979, as well as their final album together before drummer John Bonham, unfortunately, passed away in 1980. The collection is notable among Led Zep fans and music aficionados as it reflected the issues band members faced during recording.
Listen to Led Zeppelin's modern classics "Fool In The Rain" and "All My Love," digitally remastered for superior sound quality. This Deluxe Edition also contains previously unreleased rough mixes of the tracks in the original 1979 album.
A psychedelic act with a sporadic career, Traffic has become a rock legend in its own right and founded in 1967, then disbanded in 1969, reunited in 1970 to break up again in 1974, with a partial reunion in 1994. "The Low Spark of High Heeled Boys" was their fifth studio album in 1971, characteristic of Traffic music with multiple rock subgenres all in a single collection.
One of the elusive records initially released in the rock era, this limited edition, is a fitting collector's item with its quirky cube-shaped cover and contains previously unreleased recordings. The box includes a six-track 180g Audiophile vinyl with the die-cut cover.
Monolith is a prog-rock work by Kansas largely unappreciated during its initial release in 1979 but found later success and ultimately rose to platinum certification by the 90s. As a work ahead of its time, Kansas launched promo music videos for tracks on the album, which was most uncommon until MTV came along two years later.
The limited-edition contains a visually elegant blue and gold 180-gram Audiophile vinyl pressed at RTI. This now-rare "Monolith" enclosed in a gatefold cover featuring the iconic 1979 artwork, which also contains a 2 feet by 2 feet poster with a 12-inch square lyric insert. The tracks are digitally remastered by band friend and long-time fan Joe Reagoso.
