Original Nirvana Drummer Chad Channing Is Up For Band Reunion: Talks Being 'Fine' With Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Snub

Before Nirvana was Nirvana, Chad Channing was the band's drummer. He left before they blew up into the industry changers they'd soon become and was replaced by some guy named Dave Grohl. Now, Channing is claiming that he'd be totally up for a reunion with the surviving members of the band, Grohl and Krist Novoselic, as reported in an interview by NME.

Channing gave his drumming talents to the band's debut album Bleach. He also provided some material and contributions on "Polly" off of their second record Nevermind. He left in 1990, and Grohl then filled his spot.

In speaking of a possible Nirvana reunion, Channing claimed, "Yeah, if they wanted me to. It'd maybe be something like Dave playing guitar and singing and Krist doing bass. That'd be about the only arrangement I could think of that we could pull off."

The drummer is now the frontman for Before Cars, who have released two records – Old Chair EP (2006) and Walk Back (2009).

The interview touched on the recent Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction that took place earlier this year, which included Nirvana sans Channing, despite originally saying that he'd be included. When asked about the snub, the drummer responded, "I'm fine about it actually. I've always sort of felt that for me, everything's so much more about the music than the accolades."

Take a look at Grohl talking at the 2014 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony below. Watch for his words about Channing.

So, we know the drummer is up for a reunion. Are you?
