Eminem or Marshall Bruce Mathers III is, without doubt, one of the greatest lyricists to ever go up on stage. With 15 Grammys, 17 Billboard Music Awards, an Oscar, and more under his belt, Eminem has proven time and again that he is among hip-hop's modern icons.
Whether you're looking for fun tunes like "Without Me" or something hard-hitting like "Kamikazee," here are some must-have vinyl records from Eminem himself.
Produced mainly by Em himself and Dr. Dre, with help from The 45 King, Bass Brothers, and Mel-man, the first "The Marshall Mathers LP" contains the same hardcore content from its predecessor and his breakout "The Slim Shady," but with added introspection on his rise to fame.
This album is now a piece of history by spawning the massive hits "Stan," which featured Dido on vocals and the horrorcore "Kim," a frightening outburst of hatred toward his ex-wife Kim Mathers. While this LP was met with intense criticism upon release, one can't deny that it helped cement his reputation as an artist, pinning him as "The Real Slim Shady."
Slim's first major-label album was also his breakthrough work, propelling him to the forefront of hip-hop with supposed cartoonish portrayals of violence and profanity. His landmark work recently saw its 21st anniversary, with Revolt's Preezy Brown hailed "The Slim Shady LP" as the work that broke the stigma of white people being unable to rap.
His opening track, "My Name Is," notably samples the 1975 "I Got The..." by British musician Labi Siffre. It also included the horror take on a father-daughter bonding with "'97 Bonnie & Clyde."
Eminem's surprise tenth studio album is a scathing response to his haters, including music journalists and commentators doubting Slim's relevance after his 2017 album "Revival." Slim and Dr. Dre's "Kamikaze" also featured verses from Joyner Lucas, Jessie Reyez, and Royce da 5'9", plus uncredited vocals from Bon Iver's Justin Vernon.
Listen as Em puts trap music, otherwise known as "mumble rap," under fire with "The Ringer" or get back at the haters of his previous work with "Greatest."
For collectors of Eminem vinyl, there is a significant difference between the original LP and its special edition. The three vinyl expanded edition includes a capella, instrumental and radio versions of "Guilty Conscience" with Dr. Dre.
The additional ten tracks add a refreshing layer to the controversial hit LP, which also contains a capella and instrumental for other Eminem tracks "Greg" and "Just Don't Give a F**k."
Slim's latest album features more stars, now including Ed Sheeran, Q-Tip, Anderson, Paak, King Crooked, Joell Ortiz, and the late Juice Wrld. Plus, this exclusive limited-edition double-vinyl, which sports the Alfred Hitchcock spoken world album "Alfred Hitchcock Presents Music to Be Murdered By," is about to run out at online stores.
His latest album contains the hit "Godzilla" with Juice Wrld, made more popular with the #GodzillaChallenge, which challenged fans and fellow rappers to keep up with Eminem's fastest rap verse to date, cramming 224 words in 30 seconds.
