Taylor was amazed by Lambert's performance at the contest, particularly his rendition of "Whole Lotta Love" by Led Zeppelin.

Taylor and May got an invitation to perform with Lambert on the American Idol season's finale. They flew out to Los Angeles to perform "We Will Rock You" with Lambert, yet still fell short to win over Kris Allen on the finals.

Two years earlier, this event, Queen was looking for a new singer after they ended their relationship with Paul Rogers.

Almost two years after the performance between Queen and Lambert at the contest, they performed at MTV Europe Awards, followed by a mini-tour to Europe in June 2012 and worked together forward.
