Demi Lovato talked about body image and addiction in a new interview

In an interview with Bustle, Demi Lovato told her story and experience about maintaining body image.

Lovato told Bustle that she used to have people watching her the night before a photoshoot to ensure that she would not binge or eat and be swollen the next day. "It's just a different world now...I don't prepare for photoshoots, even. I can eat Subway for breakfast," the pop star added. Lovato also detailed her experience in treatment after her 2018 drug overdose and hospitalization.

Lovato attribute change to new manager

In her interview, Lovato said having a new manager in Scooter Braun is part of the healthy change. In the music executive's list, she joined the likes of Ariana Grande and Justin Bieber after splitting from her longtime manager Phil McIntyre in 2019.

Lovato said she projected her abandonment issues onto other people in the past, especially male figures, whom she looked up to as father figures. She also added that she wants her relationship with her manager to look like not involving her daddy issues.

Demi's seventh album and tour in 2020

The pop star had planned to release her long-awaited seventh album and tour this year. However, the COVID-19 pandemic affected the music industry as per Billboard.

Before the postponement of her album and tour, Demi already wowed the public with her stunning performance in the 2020 Grammys last February and the release of ther self-love anthem "I Love Me" in March.

Self-quarantine with Max Ehrich helped the pop star

Demi Lovato also said in her interview with Bustle that it's very common for people to only work on themselves when a crisis happens or when those people notice that they are only doing old patterns or behaviors. She also said that she can do the work on her own now because she has time, and it was a beautiful thing for her.

The former Disney Channel star kept her time to reflect and slow down, and it's been good for her, according to Billboard. Allegedly, Lovato spends her self-quarantine with her boyfriend, Max Ehrich, in Los Angeles.

The pop star further said that she was not in rehab and that she is in the outside world with Netflix. Lovato notes that she would put on Schitt's Creek when she's tired of therapy.

Lovato realized what she wants

The pop star told Bustle that she wants a career that has nothing to do with her body. She wants it to be about her music, lyrics, and her message. Lovato also wants a long-lasting career, in which she doesn't have to change herself.

Music brought Demi so much joy when she was younger, and she lost that joy throughout the music industry's hustle, she confessed in the interview. Lovato then added that she became miserable and did not want it to happen again.
