Though it previously seemed as though rapper Remy Ma's release date from prison had come and gone, it seems as though the former Terror Squad member remains behind bars.
According to REVOLT, the "Conceited" rapper is still being held at Bedford Hills Correctional Facility for Women. Though she was due to be a free woman beginning at 8 a.m. this morning, her rapper husband Papoose left the prison grounds without his wife due to recent behavioral issues.
A prison official told REVOLT that Remy Ma, born Reminisce Smith, had a disciplinary issue on July 21, resulting in her prison release date getting delayed.
The July 21 date of the incident is the same day Smith spoke to Power 105 reporter Angie Martinez on the phone and is believed to be the reason for Smith's disciplinary issues, though that is not confirmed. The prison officials could only say that a "third party call" was an issue on that date.
Smith has reportedly been spending the last week in solitary confinement as she awaits a report on her prison incident. She cannot be released from prison until that report is filed.
She is currently behind bars for a 2007 incident, where she shot former friend Makeda Barnes-Joseph twice in the stomach outside of a Manhattan club. The incident took place after Smith accused Joseph of stealing $3000 from her purse.
Smith was sentenced to eight years for two assault charges but was expected to be released today (July 31) after only six served years for good behavior.
A new release date for Remy Ma is unclear.
