Simon Cowell, the hard-to-please judge from "America's Got Talent," has been hospitalized after a bike accident last August 8. Reports say that he broke several parts of his back and has undergone surgery.
Cowell is currently under stable condition but is still under observation. The doctors did the five-hour operation overnight as soon as he was taken to the hospital.
He was with his family last Saturday in his residence when he fell out of his electric bike. This broke his back in several places. He was giving it a drive test during that time.
On Sunday August 9, the entertainment mogul and judge shared his advice on social media regarding the e-bike. He says "Some good advice...If you buy an electric bicycle, read the manual before you ride it for the first time. I have broken part of my back. Thank you to everyone for your kind messages."
He also showed gratitude to the medical professionals who operated on him. "And a massive thank you to all the nurses and doctors. Some of the nicest people I have ever met. Stay safe, everyone. Simon."
Because of the accident, he may have to skip not one but two live shows this season. The first two shows are scheduled this coming Tuesday, August 11, and Wednesday, August 12.
This should allow him ample time to recover from his injuries.Aside from one of their key judges still recovering, the "America's Got Talent" show was met with plenty of difficulties - mostly due to the COVID19 pandemic. Other challenges include taping auditions without a live audience, closing production last March, and making do with virtual performances.
Sofia Vergara, a fellow "America's Got Talent" judge, posted a photo on her Instagram account with Heidi Klum and Howie Mandel. They were gesturing at their boss Cowell's empty seat in their set rehearsal and sent him a speedy recovery.
