In 2012, the courts granted Sheryl Crow a temporary restraining order against Phillip Gordon Sparks, a man who was accused of threatening to shoot her. The order stated that Sparks had to stay 295 feet away from Crow and could not contact her, her family or anyone who worked with her.

Also in 2012, Bruce Springsteen played his longest show ever - 4 hours and 6 minutes - at the Helsinki Olympiastadionin Finland.

In 1994, R. Kelly and Aaliyah were secretly married at the Sheraton Gateway Suites in Rosemont, Illinois. Aaliyah never admitted being married, even though Vibe published a copy of the marriage certificate. Since she was only 15 at the time, the marriage was later annulled.

In 1992, Michael Jackson made an unscheduled appearance on his hotel balcony in London after a man threatened to jump from an apartment building across the street unless the saw the superstar. Eric Herminie, 28, told police he would leap to his death if he didn't see Jackson, who was in Britain for a series of concerts. Jackson spent a couple of minutes waving to Herminie, who then climbed back into the building.

In 1982, Eye Of The Tiger by Survivor was at #1 on the U.S. album chart. The title track, which was commissioned by actor Sylvester Stallone to be the theme song for the movie Rocky III, received an Academy Award nomination for Best Original Song. It went on to sell over five million copies.

In 1964, 40-year-old Country singer Jim Reeves was killed in a plane crash when his single engine aircraft crashed in thick fog while flying from Arkansas to Nashville. Reeves was one of the first country singers to cross-over into the pop market with his 1960 single "He'll Have To Go."
