Miley Cyrus and Cody Simpson Break Up: "I Don't Need to be Loved By You"

It appears that Miley Cyrus and Cody Simpson have broken up after being together for less than a year.

Cyrus and Simpson were confirmed romantically together when she split with reality TV star Kaitlynn Carter.

Many are still wondering why the country-pop turned hip-hop artist and Australian-born musician decided to end their relationship. Last July, the couple was reported to be doing great together. It appears that Cyrus trusts Simpson and she is most secure with him. Simpson, on the other hand, treats his girlfriend well and "make her feel like a million bucks."

Miley and Cody were supposedly happy, having spent time together during the quarantine. They were seen enjoying and doing simple things together such as cooking as well as watching movies. The couple were also seen dancing on TikTok with a "Everybody Dance Now" dance routine wearing summer outfits.

Cody adores Miley and he believes that she is a wonderful thing in his life. He is not denying that the singer-actress inspired him to be creative. The musician admires the fact that they are both creative individuals who are supportive of each other.

When asked about marriage plans in an interview, Cody emphasizes that he believes in marriage but considers himself too young to think about it at the moment. During that time, he just wants to cherish this experience with Miley.

While news of the break up have been circulating, the actress-popstar remain unhinged and released her first single "Midnight Sky" as scheduled. The lyrics aptly goes "I was born to run, I don't belong to anyone, I don't need to be loved by you."

The self-directed music video for the disco-inspired song was uploaded on her YouTube channel with over 380m views, 88k likes, and 15k comments. This is expected to rise due to the news of her breakup with Cody Simpson.

Coincidentally, this is not the first time that the Disney darling dropped a single after ending a relationship. Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth parted ways before the singer-actress dropping her single "Slide Away" back in 2019.
