Britney Spears requested the court to keep her father away from her life and career.
The "Princess of Pop" wanted her father James Spears to stop being the conservator of her person. The latter has been in control of the iconic singer's life for over 12 years.
Documents were filed by the teen pop princess' lawyer and even mentioned:
"Britney strongly opposed to James' return as conservator of her person."
Her father and attorney Andrew M. Wallet used to be the conservator over Britney's finances for about 11 years. However, things got messy when Wallet resigned last year. This makes James the sole conservator as a result.
The pop singer has been in a tumultuous situation for the past decade and she apparently does not want it to happen again.
Instead, Britney specified Jodi Montgomery for the role instead. The latter was the popstar's temporary conservator.
Additionally, this move revealed more about Britney wanting to hand over the conservatorship to someone who will really take care of her. It appears her own father is no longer a potential candidate for this.
The conservatorship is also known as guardianship in some states. The guardian usually has most power over someone's personal life, including children. As for Britney's kids, they are currently under the custody of her ex-husband Kevin Federline. It is reported that she visits them frequently.
This is the first time that Britney went public regarding the matter, as documents and court hearings were kept in private. Last year, she did express that she wanted to change some things regarding the conservatorship.
Regardless of the mess, she still praised the conservatorship and the efforts behind it. It rescued her from exploitation and financial collapse. This allowed her to return to being a world class entertainer.
With regards to the singer-dancer's music career, she revealed that she will not be performing anytime again soon due to the situation she is currently in. Her last live performances were in October 2018 and early 2019.
