Watch out Lifetime! Another Aaliyah film is in the works.
According to TheGrio, there's officially another Aaliyah film coming to the big screen.
The site reports that the film's script will be written by Zane. A representative for the fiction author confirmed her new gig.
News of the film broke when S2S reported singer B.Simone was cast as the lead role.
The film, expected to hit theaters later next year, will include some of Aaliyah's most memorable recordings as well as never-before-heard music recorded before her death.
Unlike the Lifetime Aaliyah biopic, this production will include input from Aaliyah's family. Her uncle and former manager, Barry Hankerson, is working on the big screen production.
Terrence Howard and Wood Harris were named as possible co-stars for the big-screen film.
As previously reported, producers of Aaliyah's Lifetime biopic replaced Zendaya with actress Alexandria Shipp for the role of the late singer.
Rumors began to swirl that Zendaya backed out of the role because she could not handle the initial criticism of her casting. The Disney star released a series of Instagram videos saying her decision had "absolutely nothing to do with that."
She went on to say lack of production value and music rights were the main reasons she exited the cast. Zendaya also congratulated Shipp on her new role and said she hopes Shipp isn't met with all of the adversity she faced.
Shipp took to Twitter with the same hopes tweeting, "God, blind me to negativity. Give me strength to overcome the obstacles ahead and do what you put me on this planet to do: illuminate."
With a new role as Aaliyah to tackle herself, B.Simone shared Shipp's sentiment and retweeted the message.
What do you think of another Aaliyah film being produced? What do you think of B.Simone playing Aaliyah?
