Virtual girl group, K/DA from League of Legends, dropped the pre-release single "The Baddest."
The track features English and Korean singing to emphasize a gaming swag that fans can dance to. The group is comprised of rogue assassin Akali, nine-tail fox Ahri, widowmaker Evelynn, and void marksman Kai'Sa.
The energetic pop song features voices of X-Factor singer Bea Miller, Korean and African-American singer Wolftyla, as well as G-IDLE members Soyeon and Miyeon. The K-pop artists lent their voices for Akali and Ahri, respectively.
While there is no confirmation who the voices for Evelynn and Kai'Sa are, it is widely accepted that they are being filled in by Bea and Wolftyla, respectively.
Back in 2018, when the fictional girl group first came out with their hit song "POP/STARS," Madison Beer did the voice for Evelynn while Jaira Burns sang the parts for Kai'Sa. No official announcement was made about why the two singers were not tapped again for the project. It is also possible that Madison Beer and Jaira Burns left K/DA to pursue other endeavors.
The official lyric video for "The Baddest" was uploaded on the League of Legends YouTube channel. It currently has over 6.4 million views, 640 thousand likes, and 36 thousand comments. The caption included the lyrics as well as English translation for the Korean parts, mostly Soyeon's rapping. The virtual group song runs for only 2 minutes and 39 seconds.
The song mostly had English lyrics, even on Ahri or Miyeon's parts. Similarly, BLACKPINK and Selena Gomez's collaboration song "Ice Cream" also had lyrics mainly in English.
Seeing that this is a pre-release single, fans should expect more K/DA content to come. Riot Games, League of Legends developer, announced that they would release the debut EP for K/DA within this year. Riot will most likely drop an official music video or a possible collaboration with rumored upcoming champion Seraphine as the 2020 League of Legends World Championship date on September 25 approaches.
