The Black Eyed Peas performed their new song "VIDA LOCA" and "I Gotta Feeling" during the 2020 MTV's Video Music Awards but fans are left confused to find one member missing.
Will.I.Am, Apl.de.Ap, Taboo, and Fergie were the members of Black Eyed Peas that most fans recognize during the height of the hip-hop group's popularity. However, in this MTV event, it appears that Fergie is no longer with the band.
In a recent interview with Billboard back in June, Will.I.Am said that Fergie is currently focusing on being a mom and they loved her for it. The actor-rapper mentioned parenting is a "hard job" but that they are here for here should she need a break.
The feeling is mutual because, in one of Fergie's recent Instagram posts, she mentioned that she continues to support her former hip-hop group.
Fergie was the original voice on their hit song "I Gotta Feeling" but she left the band in 2017. Filling in for her is none other than Jessica Reynoso, also known as J.Rey Soul. Reynoso was a contestant on The Voice edition held in the Philippines. She joined the group in 2018 and went into tours with them.
In their live VMA performance, Black Eyed Peas is seen singing and dancing to "VIDA LOCA" while red city lights are flashing on the stage. Most notable are the LED lights on interesting parts of their body, which emphasizes their amusing dance moves.
This song was included their eighth studio album Translation and the music video for the song was released a week ago on August 20. It currently has over 31 million views, 238 thousand, 13 thousand comments, and these are expected to blow up thanks to their VMA performance.
After "Vida Loca," Black Eyed Peas also transitioned the medley into "I Gotta Feeling." The background changed from dark setting with red undertones to bright and colorful lights, mostly green. The performance ended with "Wakanda Forever" in honor of Black Panther star Chadwick Boseman. Music lovers who missed their MTV performance may watch the video uploaded on MTV's YouTube channel.
