On Racial Injustice: Steven Keene Asks "How Wide is the Divide?" in New Song "Them & Us"

Critically acclaimed Indie singer-songwriter Steven Keene released a new single "Them & Us."

Keene wrote and recorded the song at Shore Fire Recording Studios in Long Branch, New Jersey. The track was released on all retail and streaming outlets on August 28, 2020 with the help of Symphonic Distribution.

Fans and music lovers should expect the music video to drop in the following weeks. The video is produced by String Theory while the corresponding photos will be from Photo Impressions.

"Them & Us" is a timely song about massive human conflicts derived from differences in race, nationality, political or religious affiliation, and other aspects that lead to divisiveness. Especially with what is happening in the United States, the lyrics of the song allows for self-reflection in a manner that different people may interpret as they see fit.

Keene borrowed elements from blues music, a little bit of Bob Dylan, and includes his own soulful voice to deliver the question:

"How wide is the divide between them and us?"

It appears to ask the listener to look at a common ground instead of making the fire worse. He trusts that the community arm themselves with knowledge to be able to come into a resolution.

"I believe a revolt against ignorance has to take place one mind and one heart at a time,"

The talented songwriter added to be wary of people in power who lead the sheep astray.

"No need for experts, priests, or politicians; this world is ours to create and the power is within us."

This timely song was compared to Bob Dylan's "The Hurricane" in the way that it invites people's attention towards a civil political discourse in a poetic manner. This is crucial especially in these times when social and racial injustice are made worst with tribalism and combative mindset.
