The "Dune" novel is regarded as a science fiction classic that has spawned numerous books and has been adapted to plenty of TV miniseries as well as strategy video games.

The sci-fi film is now helmed by Denis Villenueve, known for his previously directed films "Arrival" and "Blade Runner 2049." Oscar Isaac, Rebecca Ferguson, Zendaya, Josh Brolin, Dave Batista, Jason Momoa, Javier Bardem, Stellan Skarsgard, and many others join the star-studded roster.

"Dune" is expected to be a close adaptation of the first parts of the novel. The rest will be covered by the upcoming sequels which Warner Brothers already had planned. On top of that, WarnerMedia will be releasing a spinoff TV series connected to the film. It will be directed by Villenueve as well, and it will make its way to the HBO Max streaming service.

The first "Dune" movie will make it to the big screen on December 18, 2020. Reopening theaters seem to be a scary prospect at this moment. However, it appears that some theaters have reopened and are considered safe as long as COVID-19 guidelines are strictly implemented.
