The Interesting Cast of Netflix's Grim Thriller "The Devil All the Time"

The all-star cast in Netflix thriller's "The Devil All the Time" is more than enough to attract those who want to watch something interesting on the streaming service.

The stars in the movie are Robert Pattinson, Tom Holland, Sebastian Stan, and Bill Skarsgård. These four are known for portraying Batman in the upcoming DC film, Spider-Man and the Winter Soldier in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, as well as Pennywise the Clown in Stephen King's It film series respectively.

"The Devil All the Time" is based on a novel by Dale Ray Pollock, where shady characters converge their way towards a dark path of brutality and corruption. Pattinson plays as the devilish preacher Preston Teagardin; Stan plays corrupt sheriff Lee Bodecker, Holland plays young Arvin Russell, while Skarsgård plays war veteran Willard Russell (Arvin's father.)

While the cast appears to be a marvelous promise, the film itself lacks the sharp intelligence of the novel and shifts between the intriguing characters relatively too fast. This makes the viewer too annoyed to wait for the players' lines to intersect each other. The stars also do not appear until a third of the movie, so viewers might get impatient waiting for their favorite actors to come to the screen.

Aside from the blockbuster stars, Jason Clarke and Riley Keough plays a murderer couple who will undoubtedly make things complicated for the rest of the characters.

Many reviewers believe that "The Devil All the Time" would have been better as a series rather than a compressed film such as this one. Getting deep into each character in a single episode would have been more favorable. Some also praised the actors' performances, most notably Holland, as this film shows a darker side than his other cheerful portrayals.

"What I am about to do, I do because I have to, not because I want to."
