'Paul McCartney Day' Declared in Minnesota

Saturday is the 50th anniversary of the Beatles' first – and only – show in Minnesota, and Paul McCartney is in town to play a sold-out show at Target Field in Minneapolis.

Therefore, Minnesota mayor Mark Dayton took the opportunity to declare Saturday "Paul McCartney Day."

According to the Associated Press, the Beatles visited Bloomington in 1965 for a show at Metropolitan Stadium, a venue cleared to make way for the world-famous Mall of America in the 1980s. McCartney has been back multiple times, but local fans haven't seen him in nearly a decade.

Saturday night's outdoor show will be McCartney's first gig in the area since 2005 at the indoor Xcel Energy Center.

The Minneapolis Star-Tribune recently released "A guide to Paul McCartney's Out There set lists," which outlines what fans can expect from the show.

"The dude has songs," Chris Riemenschneider wrote. "In fact, if Paul McCartney were to play every hit in his 51-year discography – never mind the many uncharted nuggets – Saturday's landmark concert at Target Field would not wrap until after the sun comes up Sunday."

The gig is part of Sir Paul's Out There tour, which is currently scheduled to run through the end of October. Here are the remaining dates:
