Thurston Moore has formed a new band with former Sonic Youth bandmate Steve Shelley, My Bloody Valentine's Debbie Googe and James Sedwards. Moore is best known as the singer, songwriter and guitarist in Sonic Youth. The new group goes by the Thurston Moore Band and will begin touring on August 16.
Since the Sonic Youth's hiatus, Moore has already involved himself in a number of projects. Aside from the Thurston Moore Band, he's formed Chelsea Light Moving and joined the black metal group Twilight for their last album. He also released a solo album, Demolished Thoughts, in 2011.
Moore is releasing a new album, The Best Day, later this year. Already in 2014, however, the musician has collaborated with many artists and released some solo efforts, including a new song called "Detonation." Since The Best Day album hasn't been released yet, it remains a mystery as to what the new band will choose to play on the tour and what they will sound like.
