Hip-hop and fashion go hand in hand. Rappers have long time been the tastemakers on what to rock (i.e. Run DMC's "My Adidas").
While poppin' bottles and driving nice cars is cool, there's nothing like the feeling of being so fresh and so clean.
So the next time you're getting ready for a night out, get dressed to one of these tracks. We've hand selected five songs named after designer brands.
1. "Gucci Gucci" - Kreayshawn
The Oakland rapper released her breakout hit back in 2012. Although the song didn't actually promote wearing the brand, Interbrand reports Gucci saw growth in 2012 with a 30% jump in online sales.
Kreay also shouted out a couple other brands. "Gucci Gucci, Louis Louis, Fendi Fendi, Prada/Basic b*tches wear that sh*t so I don't even bother," she says on the chorus.
2. "Versace" - Migos
The ATL trio catapulted to stardom with the release of their 2013 ode to Gianni Versace's brand. The song became an instant hit when Drake hopped on a remix.
"Versace, Versace, Medusa head on me like I'm 'luminati," the guys rap flexing their nice gear and increased cash flow.
3. "Tom Ford" - Jay Z
Featured on Hov's Magna Carta...Holy Grail... album, the veteran raps about staying drug free and rocking fresh clothes.
Ford appreciated the shoutout saying, "Who would not be flattered to have an entire Jay Z track named after them? I mean, come on, it's pretty rare that something like that happens ... It's a kind of validation of one's work, as it means that one has really penetrated and made an impact on popular culture."
4. "Christian Dior Denim Flow" - Kanye West ft. Kid Cudi, Pusha T, John Legend, Lloyd Banks & Ryan Leslie
Yeezy's monster collaboration is the perfect background music for an #OOTD selfie. For starters, Yeez name drops some of his favorite models and everyone else follows suit swag boasting.
5. "Platinum Chanel" - Dom Kennedy
Dom took a different approach. Instead of rapping about his clothes, he made a song for the designer cologne that's got all the ladies following his scent but he does make mention of his clothing of choice.
"You can wear Adidas and Gucci it mesh clean," he raps.
Don't skip out on the smell goods, word to Dom.
