Kelly Clarkson was hit with a legal setback right before the holidays.
A court allegedly dismissed the former "American Idol" star's attempt to have her ex-husband Brandon Blackstock expelled from the Montana property they formerly shared.
"Kelly just experienced a huge legal defeat in her quest to get Brandon gone from the Montana home that the judge gave completely to her," an insider told Us Weekly.
"He's been living there and claims he doesn't have the financial wherewithal to buy his own home at this time, citing an unresolved financial part of their divorce."
Last month, the "Since U Been Gone" singer filed court filings stating that she wanted to take her ex's "live testimony."
"Testify as to the problems addressed by Petitioner's Request for Order that he evacuate the ranch," the music manager was supposed to say.
"The court concurred with Brandon and decided in his favor," the insider said, "the order simply hasn't been legally signed off on."
In June 2020, Kelly Clarkson, the award-winning host of "The Kelly Clarkson Show," filed for divorce husband Brandon, citing irreconcilable differences.
After abandoning Hollywood and becoming a full-time ranch worker, he has remained on the Montana ranch since.
Despite the fact that Kelly used her money to buy the Montana home, Brandon remained in denial.
When the paparazzi approached Brandon about his opinions on the court who handed his ex-wife exclusive possession of the Montana property after their divorce in October, he was perplexed.

Despite his efforts to have their prenup annulled during their divorce, the judge found that it was legitimate at the time.
The prenuptial agreement would be upheld by the judge, which meant that the "Breakaway" singer would receive all she had worked for and achieved throughout their seven-year marriage, including the ranch.
The court documents said, "The Court therefore rejects Respondent's [Brandon's] position that the Montana Ranch and other Montana properties are marital property owned 50/50 by the Parties."
Meanwhile, despite the fact that Brandon has lost the ranch, he continues to get something from Kelly Clarkson.
Every month, the award-winning singer pays her ex-husband $200,000 in spousal support and $45,601 in child support.
River Rose and Remington Alexander are Kelly Clarkson and Brandon Blackstock's two children.
