Rock Icon Lemmy's Ashes Were Turned Into Band's Tattoo After Grueling Battle With Cancer in 2015

Lemmy's ashes have been turned to Tattoo Ink for Motörhead's tour manager and production assistant.

According to the Motorhead's official website, the renowned heavy metal band's leader went unexpectedly in December 2015, at the age of 70, just a few months after being diagnosed with cancer.

Before his death, Ian "Lemmy" Kilmister, founding member and singer of the band, requested that his ashes should be packed into bullets and given to his family and friends.

Many of Lemmy's close personal friends and family have already received bullet casings containing his ashes following his death, as has been widely reported throughout the years.

New Motorhead tattoos honoring Lemmy are seen in a new video in the band's Instagram account.

The tattoo session features Eddie Rocha, Motorhead's veteran tour manager, and Emma Cederblad, their production assistant. The tattoos appear to contain Lemmy's ashes, mixed with the tattoo ink.

"Motorhead means family for life.", the Instagram post states.

The two Motorhead road crew members were given their band-themed tattoos. Rocha got a tattoo of Lemmy's face done on his thigh, and Cederblad had a tattoo of a "spade" done on her leg as well.

The video's release coincides with the commemoration of Lemmy's birthday on Christmas Eve. Lemmy's sixth death anniversary took place two days ago, Dec. 28, 2021.

In honor of Lemmy's birthday, a second volume in the "The Lost Tapes" series was dropped, which was released recently. The previously unpublished performance from Norwich was recorded during Motorhead's Snake Bite Love tour in 1998 and was previously unavailable.

Lemmy's Biopic

Meanwhile, a biography of the late rocker is already under development.

Titled "Lemmy", produced by Greg Olliver, who previously filmed the documentary of the same name about the heavy metal icon's life before he became a member of Motörhead in 2010.

According to the filmmakers, they want to reveal Lemmy as the "compelling, complex, and lion-hearted man" who was hiding behind the "rock 'n' roll façade."

It will also include details on his early life, including his time spent working as Jimi Hendrix's roadie, as well as his time with Hawkwind.

Production will be handled by Andre Relis and Damon Lane on the biopic, which has been in the works for some years.

In addition to Steffan Chirazi, Todd Singerman, Motörhead's manager, is named as an executive producer on the film.

Medeni Griffiths is supposed to be writing the script with the assistance of Greg Olivier, according to reports.

As to who would play the titular role, Johnny Depp, Jared Leto, and even Robert Downey Jr. are some of the fans' early picks.
