After reports of his cancellation of New Year Performances have surfaced, iconic Van Halen frontman David Lee Roth has now axed his entire Las Vegas Residency.

The performances that Roth had canceled were initially intended to be his final live performances before retiring.

According to the Las Vegas Review Journal, Roth announced the cancellation of the residency yesterday through a spokesman at the House of Blues at Mandalay Bay.

At this venue, the singer was scheduled to perform his final curtain call, following what was meant to be a string of gigs throughout January.

Roth had shows scheduled for January 5, 7, 8, 14, 15, 21, and 22. All dates are now listed as canceled. There is no news as to whether or not the singer intends to reschedule the residency.

Roth told Fox News Digital that it is not about him anymore after being asked if he would flee his commitment to perform his final curtain call.

The rock legend's camp explains that "unforeseen circumstances related to COVID-19" were the reason why the New Year's Eve and New Year's Day performances got canceled, a press release stated.

They also said that the cancellation stemmed from the team's "abundance of caution for those working and attending the show". Refunds, however, will be automatically processed, as ticket holders will be notified directly.

As is customary for Roth, the 67-year-old artist posted a photograph of a painting on social media, along with the caption "A funny thing happened on the way to Vegas," The caption is a possible allusion to the news of the artist's Vegas residency being canceled.

In October, the Van Halen icon revealed that he was "throwing in the shoes" in an interview, indicating his retirement from the music industry.

Throwing in the 'shoes'

Last December, rock legend David Lee Roth revealed that he would retire in January 2022 after performing a final series of his now-canceled performances in Las Vegas.

The singer expressed his plans of retiring when he said that he was "going to throw in the shoes." Roth explained that that was the "first, and only, official announcement" of his retirement.

In the same interview with Las Vegas Review Journal, Roth alluded to the death of his former bandmate Eddie Van Halen, who passed away from cancer in October of last year.
