Lil' Kim is apparently not over her Nicki Minaj beef. Just days after Beyoncé and Minaj released their "Flawless" Remix collaboration, Kim grabbed the track for her own remix, and she used to opportunity to diss her longtime rival.
In a new verse, which takes place after Minaj's piece, she references one of Minaj's lines where she says, "The queen of rap, slayin' with Queen Bey" and follows it up with a verse of her own.
"Am I trippin' or did this ho just say my name?" Lil Kim raps, referencing her nickname, Queen Bee (maybe she misheard the lyric?). "Queen of Rap? F**k outta here. The Queen is back. F**k outta here."
She finishes saying, “Damn, it’s a shame I gave you the rope. B***h I want you to hang.”
As HipHopDX points out, Kim and Minaj have had beef since 2010 when Kim reportedly accused Minaj of stealing her style despite Minaj actually considering Kim and inspiration. Kim later clarified her statements in a 2012 interview with Power 105's Breakfast Club, saying that it all stemmed from a partnership gone bad with Cash Money Records. Minaj and Kim were put together on a track that didn't take off and was pulled from Birdman's LP. After that, Kim was shut out, and she claims Minaj started getting catty with her.
Their beef has been chronicled in veiled insults on singles but hasn't flared up in close to a year now. Apparently, though, Kim was ready to reignite the fire with this remix.
Minaj has yet to respond to the verse, but hopefully she just lets it go or else we'll be stuck writing about this feud forever. Plus, isn’t that song supposed to be an anthem for feminism anyway?
