American Idol Creator Introduces New TikTok Born Group, Are They The #NextInMusic?

"American Idol" creator Simon Fuller has announced, "the first group ever to be created on TikTok".

Made up of singers and dancers, The Future X were all discovered through the social media site.

Each of the seven members - singers Angie Green, Luke Brown, and Maci Wood, as well as dancers Jayna Hughes, Sasha Marie, Tra Taylor, and Drew Venegas - auditioned for the group last autumn by uploading a video of themselves to TikTok with the hashtag #NextInMusic in the description.

Fuller compiled an impressive shortlist from the more than 300 million views produced by the hashtag. The final seven are selected from the hundreds of users who participated in the call.

Fans can follow the entire process online by visiting the group's TikTok hub and following @thefuturexofficial which has almost 19,000 followers.

In the same way other TikTok collectives have done, The Future X will live together in Malibu and document their music recording and performance preparation in advance of upcoming gigs in March, Variety reports.

The tour will feature concerts with the Now United band, which is managed by Fuller and will include performances in Brazil.

The formation

"Idol" franchise creator Simon Fuller said in a statement that the social media giant TikTok was "the perfect perfect platform from which to discover new talent".

Fuller explained that the group combines everything that is "exciting" about contemporary young artists - "authenticity, confidence, empowerment and a unique balance between extraordinary dancers and iconic singers".

Collaboration with TikTok

TikTok Global Head of Music Ole Oberman complimented Fuller as they were at the "forefront of music and cultural trends" as they were delighted that Fuller's team have worked with them."

Oberman explained that the social media site is now the emergeing platform wherein new music creators and artists are "finding their voice" as users share their creativity while inspiring more to do the same.

Ole is one with Fuller in agreeing that The Future X was formed as an emerging TikTok talent.

The group is presently conducting another hashtag competition in cooperation with beauty company e.l.f. to search for potential makeup artists who will also be working with the touring group.

The #elfitup TikTok Hashtag Challenge, runs today until February 1, 2022. TikTok artists can vye for the spots by "showing off their most awe-inspiring makeup looks."
