After producing and co-writing three of Adele's songs on her record-breaking album "30", Inflo is named as the First Ever Black Producer Of The Year.

The award was first presented to George Martin in 1977, which Inflo is making history now as he will be the first non-white Producer to have ever received the award.

Born Dean Josiah Cover, Inflo worked on two of the five albums nominated for British album of the year at the Brit Awards - Little Simz's "Sometimes I Might Be an Introvert" and Adele's "30".

He also co-produced and co-wrote all of the tracks on both albums.

First Black Producer Of The Year

In a statement, Inflo feels "honored to be a part of change" being the first Black music producer ever to win a BRIT Award for Producer of the Year.

Inflo humbly credits all the Black producers who came before him as he is in "awe" and has studied them. "Thank you for both paving the way and for your integral contribution to British music.", he ends.

Brian Eno, Peter Gabriel, and Calvin Harris are among the previous Producer of the Year award winners.

Fred Again, a south London-based producer, was the recipient of the award in 2020, which was the last time it was given out.

Unlike the other Brit Award categories, the producer award is decided by a panel of record label executives rather than a wider industry panel in the Brits Academy or the general public.

In the 42 years of the BRIT Awards, Inflo is the first non-white winner. His female counterpart for the award has yet to be announced.

Inflo's roots

Inflo, who is also a songwriter, guitarist, and label head, rose to fame in 2014 as a result of his work on the Kooks' 2014 album "Listen", which he produced and co-wrote.

Since then, he has collaborated on several award-winning projects, including Michael Kiwanuka's Mercury-winning album "Kiwanuka", which was released in 2019.

As a multidisciplinary artist and collaborator, Inflo's ability to produce a diverse range of music is evidenced by the breadth of Sault's discography, which includes five albums released in less than two years.

Traces of R&B, soul, funk, and house can all be heard alongside lo-fi vocal samples and intimate spoken-word interludes.

Everything the trio has produced has been released on Inflo's "Forever Living Originals" label.

The group's most recent album, "Nine", published in June 2021, was a time-limited work removed from streaming and download outlets after 99 days by the group.
