It seems like James Blunt definitely understood the assignment.
English Singer-Songwriter James Blunt have jokingly threatened to release new music on Spotify if the platform would not remove Joe Rogan's exclusive podcast.
The threat came off as a response to Neil Young's decision to have his entire music catalog be pulled out on the platform.
Neil Young wanted his songs to be removed "immediately" as Spotify enables spreading false information about the effectiveness of the COVID-19 vaccines.
The podcast in question is Joe Rogan's "Joe Rogan Experience", one of the world's most popular and downloaded podcasts.
Rogan was reported to have signed a $100 Million exclusivity contract with Spotify last May 2020.
Young's decision came on the heels when almost 300 scientists wrote to the platform to highlight that what Rogan is spreading on his podcast are "medically and culturally dangerous".
The open letter also stated that the platform is "enabling its hosted media to damage public trust in scientific research", sowing doubt in the credibility of the data-driven direction offered by the medical industry.

Artists in protest
In a letter addressed to his team, the iconic folk-rock singer explained his decision, saying he is removing his songs because the platform "is spreading false information about vaccines".
Something that the singer believed could potentially cause death to those who believe the "disinformation spread by them [Spotify].
It was not just Neil Young who pulled out his catalog on the platform, he was also joined by Canadian Singer Joni Mitchell, who threatened to remove her discography in protest and "in solidarity with Young".
Now, the BRIT Awardee has joined the protest, but in a rather unconventional way.
James sarcastically threatened that if Spotify does not remove Rogan, he will release new music on the platform in a tweet shared yesterday.
If Blunt proceeds with his plan, this would be the most recent music that he would release following his "The Stars Beneath My Feet" album that included four new songs.
The wife of late Gang of Four frontman Andy Gill have also chimed into the saga, saying that if only her husband has not died because of COVID-19 at the start of the pandemic, he would have had "strong and clear feelings" on the platform's decision to ax Young's discography.
