After her long hiatus in music, Nicki is slowly making her return to the business through frequent collaborations with various artists.
However, Nicki Minaj passed up on this one particular collaboration because of reasons that are new to the Queen of Rap.
In an interview at The Dana Cortez Show earlier this week, the Trinidadian-born rapper revealed that she decided not to be part of a now successful track.
Reason Behind
The track in question was Gunna's DS4EVER's "P*ssy Power".
The 39-year old singer-rapper also revealed that despite the song being good, she had a hard time deciding if she would give it a go or not - she ultimately decided to pass up on the collaboration.
Nicki explained that the track was simply too raunchy for her liking now - being a mother to Papa Bear.
Minaj also added that the track heavily included "moaning and groaning", which she defined as "explicit". With her preference at the time, she believed that in order to "get on a track like that", she should be explicit too, but she "wasn't ready and wasn't there".
Even though she passed up on the opportunity to collaborate with Gunna, the Atlantan rapper managed to seal Champagne Papi Drake for the single, who dropped days after DS4EVER was officially launched.
Because of motherhood and parenthood, Nicki shifted to a rather different approach compared to her themes and songs before pregnancy.
The Young Money Queen revealed that her label wanted her to do a sexually explicit single in 2020.
However, she "couldn't bring myself" to do it because of the themes and what the song is about while being pregnant to her son is growing inside her body.
"Nothing wrong with anybody who's able to do it, but with me, I just felt in a very different, new space.", she continued.
One Atlantan rapper, however, managed to get Nicki in a collaboration.
Do We Have A Problem?
On Friday, Nicki Minaj and Lil Baby will release a new track titled "Do We Have a Problem?" coupled with a music video created by Benny Boom, which will be released with the single.
Nicki was clearly impressed with Baby's verse, as she stated in a recent interview that the 4PF rapper "steals the show" on the track.
