Nicki Minaj may change her path in the music scene this time after she entered motherhood.

The "Superbass" hitmaker gave birth to her first son with her husband, Kenneth Petty, on September 30, 2020. And during her recent visit to the Dana Cortez Show, she admitted that the birth of her first child, nicknamed Papa Bear, has made her rethink including explicit lyrics in her songs.

As per The Grio, the New York-based rapper has built her reputation to have sexually explicit songs, namely "Anaconda," "Beez in the Trap," and many more. But, when she was asked in the show to record similar material during pregnancy, she wasn't doing comfortable doing so.

The rapper said, " There was a song-my label wanted me to go full out with a single and everything, right, when I was pregnant, and I couldn't bring myself to put out a song about p-- and d-- and sucking and eating."

"I couldn't bring myself to put a record out like that while my son was growing in my body," she added.

The New Path Nicki Minaj Is Taking

According to the mentioned source, the song was Gunna's single "P Power." Minaj was initially asked to do the feature instead. However, the rapper decided to decline the project.

"As a woman, as a mother, you have every right to make that choice. You decide what's comfortable and convenient for you when you are with child," Minaj continued her explanation.

Drake, Minaj's labelmate, took over recording a guest verse for the song instead, which appeared on Gunna's recent album release, "DS4Ever." The said album also debuted in the Top 30 on the Billboard Hot 100 last week and scored his second No. 1 on the Billboard 200 albums chart.

Though Nicki Minaj may say that she'll be on a different path on creatively making her music, she claimed that she also isn't bothered by any rappers who are using explicit lyrics on their songs, as per the outlet.

"Nothing wrong with anybody that was able to do it, but me, I just felt in a very different, new space," Minaj concluded.
