Following her successful breakthrough last year as a new pop star, Olivia Rodrigo is kicking off her 2022 with a huge award from Billboard.
Olivia Rodrigo, born Olivia Isabel Rodrigo, is taking the reins of the pop music genre with her commercially successful "SOUR" that took both charts and social media by storm.
Billboard just recently awarded the 18-year old singer-songwriter as the youngest Woman of the Year for 2022.
Receiving the award on March 2, Rodrigo wil be awarded alongside influential female artists Gabby Barrett, Phoebe Bridgers, Doja Cat, Karol G, Bonnie Raitt and Saweetie.
Why Olivia Rodrigo?
Billboard Editorial Director Hannah Karp said in a statement that the rising star's "trajectory to superstardom is the stuff of pop music legend".
She also added that Olivia's "talents as a storyteller and songwriter" have made her "one of the most authentic and exciting new artists to explode onto the scene in years".
Karp is "thrilled to celebrate" Olivia's unique voice and enormous impact as she has connected with audiences across all ages through her "emotionally-charged songs" about heartbreak, jealousy, and maturity.
Achieving commercial success as a debut artist, the Disney alum released her iconic album "SOUR" with flying colors while also starring at Disney's High School Musical: The Musical: The Series.

Those who have won Woman of the Year in the past have included Cardi B, Billie Eilish, Taylor Swift, Madonna, and Lady Gaga.
This year's event, which honors female artists, innovators, producers, and executives who are creating waves in the music business, will be hosted by Ciara.
Olivia's not so 'SOUR' success
With the release of her first single "drivers license" in January, Rodrigo began 2021 with a bang.
The song topped the charts for eight straight weeks and became 2021's first music to reach one billion worldwide streams.
According to reports, when the singer-songwriter released her debut album "SOUR" in April, the album broke Spotify's record for the most-streamed album in a week by a female artist with over 385 million listens.
She will be touring in support of the record this spring, and she is also nominated for seven Grammy Awards at this year's event.
Olivia is nominated on the Recording Academy's four major awards, Album of The Year, Best New Artist, Record of The Year, and Song of The Year, with Best Music Video, Best Pop Vocal Album, and Best Pop Solo Performance.
