More than a decade since they last released a studio album, Journey is staging a comeback in the music scene with their new album and an international tour with a very special guest.

Since their 2011 album "Eclipse," the iconic rock band has not released any follow-up album yet until we know when. But, they have finally unveiled the album title and the tracklist, as they will kickstart the tour next week.

Freedom and the Freedom Tour

"Freedom" is Journey's sixteenth studio album since the first release of their self-titled album "Journey" in 1975.

Journey mainstay guitarist Neal Schon took to Instagram to tease their fans of the 15-track "Freedom" album, saying it is "coming and loaded."

But before the release, the band already announced their upcoming "Freedom" tour on their official Instagram account, naming the iconic rock band Toto as their "very special guest."

The band released "The Way We Used to Be" as the lead single only last June, giving fans their first new music in a decade.

Journey's lineup has shifted since their last release. Producer-drummer Narada Michael Walden, bassist Randy Jackson, and keyboardist Jason Derlatka joined the band in 2020, with longtime drummer Deen Castronovo rejoining in 2021.

In a Rolling Stone interview with vocalist Arnel Pineda in 2021, Pineda has nothing but compliments on working with Walden. He has considered the returnee one of his biggest mentors.

"It's been amazing. He's starting to be one of my biggest mentors. He's been so patient with me and he's so good. It's no wonder he's a Grammy winner. I've been getting his vibe and he's a good teacher," the vocalist explained.

The new record has yet to be given an official release date, but Journey will be back on the road next week. The band will begin off the "Freedom" tour with Toto in Pittsburgh on February 22nd, with concerts scheduled until May.

Arnel Pineda and Steve Perry

Since Perry passed on the baton of Journey to Pineda in 2017, Arnel Pineda has been the frontman and vocalist of the iconic band.

Perry gave an acceptance speech when the band was inducted in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2017, but did not perform to give way for frontman Arnel Pineda.

But ever since he passed the baton to Pineda, Steve Perry, described as "The Voice", still made his solo career flourish, especially with his third studio album "Traces" that peaked at the Billboards 200 at No. 6, and on the Billboard's Top Rock Albums at No. 2.
