Just like COVID-19, chickenpox can be contagious, especially for those who have not contracted it younger. Although not as deadly as the virus, it can still keep musicians performing.

This is the case for "Budapest" hitmaker George Ezra, who was infected with chickenpox during his UK tour.

Ezra took to Twitter in a video to show fans and followers the spotty rash that had grown throughout his chest, shoulders, and even his face and back.

The 28-year-old was scheduled to play at the London Palladium, the Manchester Opera House, and the King's Theatre in Edinburgh in the coming days.

Still, the performances have been postponed in April.

Following cancellations due to the pandemic, George will be on the road for the first time since 2019.

Rescheduled because of the Pox

"As you can see, I've got chicken pox, which I never had as a kid - and it is miserable. It is all the fatigue and fever of the virus, but you also want to scratch at your skin all the time," Ezra explained.

The artist reassured fans that his gigs would be rescheduled, and he released details on a Twitter thread regarding the venue's relocation to Usher Hall in Edinburgh.

"Gutted" on not performing, the George Ezra admitted that he was "so much looking forward to getting back up there and swinging my hips" on tour.

He apologizes to fans who already purchased the tickers, upset that he had not performed since 2019 because of the pandemic.

Other projects

The Brit Award-winner will release his next album, "Gold Rush Kid," in June.

According to Ezra, his lead single for the third album, "Anyone for You," is "a patchwork of lyric ideas found in old notebooks and chance moments shared between musicians in the studio."

"Gold Rush Kid" proceeds his 2018 album "Staying at Tamara's," in which he revealed that one of his new single's verses dates back to the 2018 album, which he later on incorporated into the song.

Ezra will also headline his Finsbury Park show in Summer 2022 with Holly Humberstone and Blossoms.

He will also be performing alongside Kings of Leon, Bastille, Sam Fender, and Disclosure on Boardmasters 2022 in August.
