Doja Cat has charted on several genre-specific Billboard charts during her meteoric journey to superstardom. She's seen her songs achieve ranks in genres such as pop, rap, hip-hop, R&B, and even Latin, and now she can add her latest track to that ever-growing list.
Cat's new single "Celebrity Skin" appears on a variety of Billboard charts this week after completing its first full tracking session, helping the lady who created the cover for one of Hole's best singles reach previously uncharted heights.
The primary Billboard chart that deals with songs classified as rock in any form is the Hot Rock & Alternative Songs chart, and Cat not only rans for the first time on this charts, but also has the week's most remarkable start. "Celebrity Skin" debuts at No. 18, marking the frame's highest debut.
On the Hot Alternative Songs list, the song does somewhat better, which is not altogether surprising. The ranking is a little more specialized list that often includes solely alternative music. It is not unusual for the majority, if not all, of the 25 items on the Hot Alternative Songs roster to also chart on the Hot Rock & Alternative Songs list.
"Celebrity Skin" is at No. 16 on the alternative-only chart.

While "Celebrity Skin" did not do well enough in its debut frame to qualify for the all-genre Digital Song Sales chart, it did make the Alternative Digital Song Sales chart, which tracks precisely what the title implies. Cat's new single debuts at No. 21 on the 25-spot list, getting the frame's third-highest launch (out of four new arrivals).
Cat covered the Hole song for a Taco Bell ad that aired during the Super Bowl in 2022. The song quickly gained traction on streaming platforms, digital shops, and social media, propelling it to the top of numerous Billboard charts.
Originally released in 1998 as a single from the same-titled album, Hole's "Celebrity Skin" has charted on a number of Billboard charts over the years, but Cat's performance has topped a few of them. While the original reached No. 12 on the Alternative Digital Song Sales chart, it never made the Hot Rock & Alternative Songs or Hot Alternative Songs charts. That is mostly certainly due to the fact that those rosters were established during the cut's peak.
Her cover has been lauded even by Courtney Love.
After the cover was featured in a Super Bowl ad spot for Taco Bell, Love cannot help but praise the singer on her social media.
"Totally enjoyable," Love wrote on Instagram of the cover. "Doja Cat I love this and love you."
