Billy Joel is currently traveling across the United States for his 2022 tour, and he made a big move for Gary Brooker in one of his shows more than a week after the latter passed away.

According to Rolling Stone, the 72-year-old musician had a concert at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, Nevada, over the weekend.

During the event, Joel switched up his setlist and performed one of Brooker's notable hits "Shade of Pale," following his song "Only the Good Die Young."

Before his performance, he also paid tribute to the Procol Harum singer online, writing, "Sorry to hear about the passing of Gary Brooke. Rest in Peace."

According to the outlet, this was not the first time Joel performed the 1967 song, but he rarely does it as it's not part of his original setlist.

A few of the moments where he performed the track were in Cincinnati last year, another one during a Town Hall Q&A, and a concert with Howard Stern.

Gary Brooker Dead At 76

According to The New York Times, the singer and pianist passed away at the age of 76 last Saturday at his home in Surrey, England.

At the time of his passing, Procol Harum issued a statement on their website, saying he had been receiving treatment for cancer, but he died peacefully surrounded by family members.

The band also shared his full obituary where they recalled his achievements throughout his career throughout the previous decades.

The band also noted that he was a "brightly- shining, irreplaceable light in the music industry."

Brooker is popularly known for starting as a singer with his musician father; his career later progressed with The Paramounts.

In 1967, he joined Procol Harum and released their single "A Whiter Shade of Pale."

Other Musicians Paid Tribute to Gary Brooker After His Death

Billy Joel isn't the only music artist who paid tribute to Gary Brooker, as others opted for social media to remember the iconic musician.

Ringo Starr shared a photo of them together, while Pattie Boyd recalled when she was starting her Cocktail Podcast, saying the late singer was on top of her list.

Steve Hackett took to his Twitter account to say the music industry has lost another "national treasure" as his tracks were "groundbreaking."
