Despite Kanye West's threats to take his music out from streaming platforms and urge fans to buy his Stem Player, the award-winning rapper maintains control on these "old" digital streaming platforms.

For two days in a row, Kim Kardashian's ex-husband topped the Spotify charts as the most-streamed artist on the platform.

According to Twitter page Chart Data, Kanye, who legally changed his name to Ye last year, has become the go-to artist on the platform not only to listen to his "Donda" album, but also to relive his glory days with albums like "The College Dropout" and "Late Registration."

Select "Donda" tracks were played at a listening session on February 22 for his "Donda 2" album, which has yet to be released despite being hyped to be released on that day.

The explanation for Kanye West's Spotify supremacy came after he informed fans that the follow-up to his highly anticipated album would not be available on traditional streaming services.

In fact, he rejected a $100 million deal from Apple to solely host the album on their platform.

Following the "Donda 2" listening event, several of his tracks began to appear on the Stem Player website.

"Security," "Pablo," and "Broken Road," which include Future and Travis Scott, are already on the album, as are "Broken Road" and "We Did It Kid."

A few days later, 16 new songs were uploaded to the Stem Player, including "Keep It Burning," the only new song, which was not performed at the listening session in Miami a few days ago.

What Exactly Is A Stem Player?

The purpose of the Stem Player, which Kanye West first introduced in the first "Donda" album, is to allow listeners the ability to remove or add particular elements in the songs, according to Kanye West.

The constant revisions to the songs are reminiscent of an idea the "Jesus Is King" rapper had with his 2016 album "The Life of Pablo," in which he developed a "living album" with songs that were often repaired with. Because of his creative urge to establish whatever sound he chooses, there were no "final" versions.

In a nutshell, the Stem Player is an MP3 player that also functions as a portable mixer.

The device costs around $200, which is a lot even if you simply listen to his most recent album. Fans of Kanye West, on the other hand, may still purchase it.

In 2021, 6,000 Stem Players were sold in a 24-hour period, earning him around $1.4 million in sales revenue.
