Coinciding with the postponement of his European tour dates, Randy Newman has shared a rather shocking revelation about his most recent health condition.

The Toy Story singer indefinitely postpones his "An Evening With Randy Newman: Live In Concert" European dates because of an injury he has sustained.

The 78-year old singer took to Instagram to announce the news about the postponement and his health.

Truth revealed

"Randy Newman has today announced that due to an extended recovery from neck surgery, Randy Newman's European tour due to start in March 2022 will unfortunately have to be rescheduled." the caption reads.

The Oscar-winning singer-songwriter also revealed that he recently noticed that he was "shrinking" as people he towered now towered over him. He jokingly teased that maybe this was a payback for writing about short people, an homage to his 1977 hit "Short People."

Newman, later on, revealed that it turns out his neck was broken. He confirmed later on that the operation for the neck went successfully as he thought.

The singer continued to take the situation lightly, even referring to himself as an "anteater" and a "folk-rock artist from the sixties," only to underscore that his doctor had refused him to allow him to go on the European trek.

"I was really looking forward to coming to Europe to perform. I miss performing a great deal and I look forward to a time when I can come. I'm sorry I won't see you this time, but I will see you soon." he penned.

Other details

Additionally, according to the release, ticket holders will be contacted by their place of purchase with additional information and news of their rescheduled date shortly.

The postponement is a further blow for European fans who initially purchased tickets for the tour in September 2019 for a run that was initially slated to take place in May-June 2020 in the United Kingdom, Sweden, Norway, Germany, and France before being postponed until 2022 because of the pandemic.

The "You've Got A Friend In Me" singer was also set to perform at the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival. However, the event, on May 1, was still not confirmed if it would be canceled like his other tour.
