Kanye West Finally Explains Why He Threw His Mic During ‘Donda 2’s Listening Session

Kanye West is unpredictable whenever he performs on stage as fans don't know what to expect regarding his stage design, guest singers, and behavior. In a recent show, however, the rapper threw his microphone and he explained the reason why.

According to Complex, the "American Girl" rapper said he was told to attach the word "performance" for his "Donda 2" album. However, he said it was not part of his vision.

West explained that he threw the mic not just because of the sound, but also about being told about the word. (watch the video of his performance below)

"It was the fact that I was told, one thing I was told was that I had to write the word 'performance' on the piece. But what I was giving you guys was performance art," he said in an interview.

The rapper also shared that he had listening sessions after releasing the record where puts a mask on. He considers the sessions as an "installation" and the promoter forced him to mix two different things, comparing it to "Taco Bell and KFC" as well as "tequila and Cognac."

"So right when I did the song and I saw myself grabbing this mic and it wasn't my original idea, I was like, 'I'm gonna throw this mic. Why am I doing this?'"

In the video circulating online, the rapper also had technical difficulties as his microphone was cutting his audio.

Kanye West's 'Donda 2' Available on Stem Player

If fans never got the chance to watch one of the "Donda 2" listening sessions live, they could listen to the album through Stem Player.

The highly-anticipated record isn't available in other music streaming platforms like Apple Music, Spotify, or YouTube.

West's supporters have to purchase the device for the price of $230. The rapper previously described it as the first Yeezy tech product as he's now selling gadgets, far from his entrepreneurial start which are sneakers and clothing.

"Donda 2" features several collaborations from iconic singers and rappers like Alicia Keys, Soulja Boy, Jack Harlow, Playboi Carti, Migos, Travis Scott, XXXTENTACION, and many more.

The first four tracks of West's 11th album were released on February 13, while the 12 others were uploaded the following day.

Some of the songs include "Flowers," "We Did It Kid," "True Love," and many more.
