LCD Soundsystem just promised future performances - but they also offered bad news.
LCD Soundsystem founder James Murphy recently penned a lengthy update on Facebook, sharing the recent updates on the rock band's activities.
Elsewhere in the post, he talked about their "Saturday Night Live" appearance" and their 20th anniversary. However, the part where Murphy spoke about their recent residency arrangements stirred people's curiosity the most.
Since December, LCD Soundsystem started having shorter residencies in several cities and states, including London, Boston, and Philadelphia. Three of their 20 Brooklyn shows were never rescheduled after canceling them due to several reasons - including the completion of refunds and lack of venue.
As for the reason behind that massive change, Murphy revealed that the band is reluctant in doing the album-tour-break cycle again. Despite that, he assured the band would drop singles from time to time.
"We talked about just playing some shows in New York, since most of us live here, and not making it too big of a deal. Like, just playing because we like it and because we like one another. Just be a New York band for a bit. And maybe we'll do something like that every year. Just stay in shape, if that makes sense," he explained, as quoted by Rolling Stone.
Murphy, although he said that LCD Soundsystem would still release music, added they would avoid album panic. With that, they can reportedly work on new music while enjoying their lives as human beings.
LCD Soundsystem Marks 20th Anniversary; Announces Future Schedule
In the same post, Murphy mentioned the band's 20th anniversary this year. Per the founder, they would still celebrate but in a more low-key way.
He then mentioned how their "Saturday Night Live" appearance had been incredibly fun that it became one of their wish list's items as a band.
Amid the tough times the band members have been going through, Murphy took his time to assure their fans they would not be away for good anytime soon.
"You stand still long enough, and it all spins back around. Dreams never end," he said. "We'll play again. And it won't be in, like, five years. So if you had a ticket to a show which got canceled, you'll be first in line for those upcoming shows."
LCD Soundsystem is scheduled to join the This Ain't No Picnic Festival this summer. They will also be present at the DFA 20th anniversary party in New York.
