Inspired by Megan Thee Stallion's affinity for horror and fantasy, she and Dua Lipa finally served the much-anticipated "Sweetest Pie" that fans are hungry to take a bite.
Teaming up on their first collaboration, Dua Lipa drops the 'Sweetest Pie' With Megan Thee Stallion amid the British superstar's ongoing plagiarism lawsuit.
Megan's Slice of the Pie on her new album?
Revealing to Apple 1 her vision for her 2022 music, Megan Thee Stallion wanted her music to be "organic" and the artist she will be collaborating with.
"And I want us to both really thrive on it and really shine. So when I heard it, I was like, "Okay, this is my type of beat, my 808, my drums. But I feel like it's a good vibe for her," Stallion told Apple 1, referring to her latest collaboration with Dua.
Asked whether her new album is already finished, the head Hottie truthfully admitted that she needs to finish a total of nine more songs to complete the upcoming album.
Fans have yet to know whether the new song would be included on Megan's upcoming album or in Dua's in the coming weeks.
The Sweetest Pie amid plagiarism case
Days before the actual music was dropped, Dua Lipa teased the song on her Instagram to her 80.5 million followers, announcing the song cover art and the release date.
"Sweetest Pie" arrives just in time for Megan Thee Stallion's three stops on Dua Lipa's "Future Nostalgia" tour, kicking off on March 15 in Denver, Colorado, continuing to Tulsa, Oklahoma, and Phoenix, Arizona.
Lipa has been busy lately continuing her "Future Nostalgia Tour" while leaving her artist management firm TaP last month.
The 26-year old singer is also embroiled in two highly controversial plagiarism lawsuits for her 2020 hit song "Levitating."
Artikal Sound System claimed that Dua Lipa plagiarized their music "Live Your Life" in the chorus.
On the other hand, Brown and Linzer say that Dua Lipa copied their music "Wiggle and Giggle All Night" in the opening verse of her hit song.
They referenced the popularity of the opening verse of "Levitating" on TikTok in their complaint, saying that their intellectual property was the driving force for the song's success on the platform.
Lipa's camp has yet to address the allegations, but it looks like they were focused more on releasing the "Sweetest Pie" and working on the singer's "Future Nostalgia Tour."
